TOLL LANE PROJECT NOW OPEN TO TRAFFIC
Travelers to the airport, Bastrop, and points beyond have a new travel experience along SH 71 as the 71 Toll Lane project is now open to traffic. These new toll lanes offer greater mobility, enhanced connectivity, and reliable travel times along this key east/west connection to SH 130 near Onion Creek.
TxDOT began construction of the project in January 2015. Their crews have been hard at work building one tolled lane in each direction along a 3.9-mile stretch of SH 71 from Presidential Boulevard to SH 130, as well as constructing new bridges over FM 973 and SH 130. The Mobility Authority now takes over responsibility of the operations and maintenance of the open toll lanes. For toll rates and information, click here.
TxTag holders get a 25% discount when using the 71 Toll Lane to bypass congestion.
Travelers can access the eastbound 71 Toll Lane near Presidential Boulevard as well as near FM 973. Access to the westbound 71 Toll Lane will be available near SH 130 and near FM 973. Please review our map for details on these access points, as well as exit ramps.
Our mobility solutions provide drivers with the option to take back time stuck in traffic. Drivers have a choice to take this free-flowing and reliable bypass route for through-traffic, avoiding several traffic signals. Those who prefer not to pay a toll may drive on the upgraded non-tolled SH 71 general purpose lanes.
